The CERC 2013 conference will be held in the National Maritime College of Ireland 18th and 18th of October 2013. Please visit http://cerc.cit.ie for more details. It is a major event for all ClouDx-i researhcers to netwrok and share findings, results and to discuss future directions.
The Collaborative European Research Conference (CERC) is the result of a long standing research collaboration between Cork Institute of Technology (CIT), Ireland and the Hochschule Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, Germany. CERC 2013 will be hosted by CIT in Cork, on the 17th and 18th of October.

At a European level CERC actively supports the activities of the EuTec Consortium formed by Plymouth University, Hochschule Darmstadt, Cork Institute of Technology, and University College Gjøvik.

At a Regional level CERC aims to support and showcase the researchers and research activities of our local partners who include, University College Cork (UCC), Tyndall National Institute, the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre (APC), and Teagasc Moorepark amongst others.

Postgraduate students from these and other third level institutions are welcome to make a submission and participate in this peer-reviewed event in Cork, Ireland.

SULSA 2013 Symposium

SULSA's 2013 Research Symposium will focus on research that has exploited the recent advances in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology to generate knowledge and to improve health.

Genetic sequencing facilities are becoming more efficient, more versatile and are generating larger and more detailed data outputs. This means that NGS is now being used to address more scientific questions in the life sciences, and is contributing to significant discoveries. The technology is generating larger volumes of data than can currently be reasonably analysed, leading to novel developments in bioinformatics and questions on what to do with so much data? NGS is also bringing up ethical and legal issues when for example the data it generates originates from patients, children or prisoners.

SULSA's 2013 Research Symposium will show case results from world-class scientists, who have used NGS as a major route to delivering the data required for their research. Join us to hear from experts in virus evolution, human cancer, stratified medicine, parasite evolution, bioinformatics, and more.

The event will also include a debate by a panel of specialists, including scientists and legal experts, which will explore the human, regulatory and ethical opportunities and issues arising from the NGS revolution.

The debate will be centered around the question:
" Should we be sequenced at birth? "

The Society's summer meeting was held on June 27th and 28th in Edinburgh. Researchers from ClouDx-i were in attendance with Prof. Peter Ghazal giving a keynote address. The Neonatal Society is a leading academic society, the aim of which is to promote neonatal science.
The Society has a well-established track record of fostering new research by the award of prizes to leading young investigators, as well as a student research bursary. Abstracts from presentations are reviewed by the Society committee prior to publication online, and all such abstracts back to 2001 are available free of charge online in this site, fully indexed and searchable.
